Conference ScopeThe IWOX workshop series is the leading international forum for the presentation and discussion of cutting-edge basic research in the physics and chemistry of oxide surfaces. Since its inception in 1999, after the Les Houches oxide conference in France in 1997 ("IWOX-0"), IWOX workshops have been held every two years and have consistently attracted the best minds in oxide surface science from the US, Europe and Asia. Previous workshops were held in Germany (1999), New Mexico, US (2001), Japan (2003), France (2005), California, US (2007) and Schladming, Austria (2009). The 7th workshop is held in 2010, not in 2011, to avoid periodic overlaps with other conferences. Areas of interest for IWOX workshop have now become broader and broader, including any topics related to phenomena in which oxide surfaces and interfaces are importantly involved. New methodologies developed for studies on emergent phenomena in the physics and chemistry of oxide nanostructures and their interfaces will be a theme as well. As in previous years, the conference format will include a mix of invited and contributed talks, posters, including a student poster competition, and relax time for informal interactions in a beautiful snow mountain and a hot spring.
