新機能性材料を開発するために不可欠な物質の本質的理解を目指して，最先端の研究成果を発表し，意見交換を行います．さらに世界の熱科学・物質科学の基礎研究分野の研究者と交流を深め，ナノカロリメトリ−をはじめとする新しい化学熱力学の展開をはかります．また，特に若手研究者や学生に対して，国際交流の場を提供し，国際力豊かな熱測定研究者の育成をはかることを目的とします．
本国際会議はこれまで故阿竹徹博士（2011年没）の主宰のもとで，日本熱測定学会が後援して開催されてきましたが，今回からは日本熱測定学会の主催行事として開催されることになりました．また，故阿竹博士のリーダーシップの顕彰方法を実行委員会で検討し，会議で行われるキーノート講演をAtake Lectureと呼ぶことにしました． 今回のAtake LectureはOslo大学のSvein Stølen教授が行う予定です。
口頭発表は招待講演のみとし、一般講演はポスター発表とします．
