 Area of Specialization Field of Structural Engineering for Buildings and Cities 
  • The successful candidate is required to carry out research on Structural Engineering for Buildings and Cities in IIR.
  • The successful candidate is required to engage in teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students.
  • The successful candidate is required to carry out lectures in the department of Architecture and Building Engineering for both undergraduate and graduate students in English and Japanese.
  • The successful candidate is required to carry out administrative work for the institute, school, department, etc.
  • The candidate must hold a Ph.D., or have equivalent experience in a relevant subject and have appropriate research experience.
  • The candidate is able to develop new seismic technology and/or resiliency of buildings and urban areas.
  • The candidate is able to contribute to the disaster mitigation of urban disasters in experimental, analytical, and/or numerical fields.
  • The candidate is able to collaborate with domestic and/or international structural/nonstructural engineering communities to develop a new research area.
  • The candidate is willing to take in charge of obtaining major funding and making international networks.
  • The candidate must have a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching.
  • The candidate must be highly motivated, willing to learn and demonstrate initiative in research and teaching.

The Institute has mandatory retirement, requiring employees to retire at age 65.
